KONG PART ONE: The Monkey Smuggler, the Mwami, and the Hanged Man
Published 17 May 2007 by COA News, an on-line portal to independent news. Unedited version here, with extensive footnotes.
(the American taxpayer has contributed billions to the African continent, but has been betrayed in the bargain with conservation and humanitarian organizations that have become self-serving cottage industries in black Africa, while expanding and exploding into corporate behemoths in the white world. These organizations are accountable to no one but their own pockets.

(In the late fall of 2005, the Hollywood film King Kong opened to sellout crowds everywhere. The high-action cinematography and special effects combined with the racy recycled story of Beauty and the Beast to bring home a walloping fortune for everyone involved. Behind the film, however, is a dark forest of conservation organizations, primatologists and public relation firms peddling billions of dollars in so-called "conservation" programs for Central Africa. Behind these conservation organizations, funding them, or working with them directly, are some very interesting species. As you penetrate deeper and deeper into this jungle of surprises, the landscape gets curiouser and curiouser.

KONG PART THREE: A Mwamis Tale: Henchmen and Heartbreak in the Heart of Darkness
Published 04 June 2007 by COA News, an on-line portal to Independent News. Unedited version here, with extensive footnotes.
(One hundred years ago, the Report of British Consul Roger Casement was a prescient narrative that foreshadowed conservation scandals festering in modern day Congo. Some ten million souls were sacrificed between 1895 and 1905 for profit at the close of the Industrial Revolution. Now, a century of "development" and "enlightenment" later, Casement's description of refugees suffering the fate of foreign exploitation in Congo is an accurate and jarring description of life in remote, impoverished, war-torn villages in Central Africa.

KONG PART FOUR: The Map, the Mad Scientist and the Mayor
Published 15 June 2007 by COA News, an on-line portal to independent news. Unedited version here, with extensive footnotes.
(I'm talking about a primitive world," film producer Carl Denham tells the thugs bankrolling his enterprise in the new Hollywood film King Kong, "never before seen by man." Denham waves about his faded map, and the cinematography repeatedly zooms in on the sketchy details of the crusty, tattered old thing. The modern world, a world impossible for Kong's Carl Denham to imagine, has developed such sophisticated forms of mapping that they have become de rigueur in the defense, surveillance and -- no surprise -- the so-called conservation industries.

KONG PART FIVE: The Hanged Man
Published 5 July 2007 by COA News, an on-line portal to independent news. Unedited version here, with extensive footnotes.
(they say Klaus-Jurgen Sucker was beginning to look like the Silverback Gorillas he so tenaciously protected in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park (MGNP). Friends noted that an eerie change took place in his physical form. His hair was turning a premature grey as he struggled to "out-Fossey Dian Fossey" - a term used to describe a conservationist who betters his or her predecessors - and find a way for humans and wildlife to co-exist both inside and outside of Mgahinga National Park. In 1989, Klaus-Jurgen Sucker began working in the middle of a metaphoric fault line that was about to erupt with undreamed of consequences. Did the conservation cabal destroy Klaus-Jergen Sucker? Or was it Sucker's awareness of the military imperatives behind them?

Gorillas "Executed" Stories front for Privatization of Congo Parks,
    Truth of Depopulation Ignored

Published July 30, 2007 by keith harmon snow and Georgianne Nienaber; published August 3, 2007 by ZNET (Z Magazine online). (the story began the way they all do: DATELINE: Virungas National Park: "IN EASTERN CONGO OASIS, BLOOD AMID THE GREENERY. In Africa's Oldest National Park, Gorillas Are Being Killed and Their Guardians Are Endangered, Too." Published July 22, 2007, it was yet "another gorilla murdered" story. This time it was the Washington Post, and one more "news" feature that invents the desired reality and runs cover for fortunes lost and found in Central Africa. But there is something else going on here... - see also: http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?SectionID=2&ItemID=13445)

Deconstructing Newsweek and the Gorilla Killings in Congo
Published August 1, 2007 by OpEdNews.com, as a reworked versikon of the PRIVATIZATION article above. Click on "see also" link: (the Newsweek cover feature, "Gorilla Warfare: Even after 10 years of war, rangers are stunned by the mysterious killings of great apes in Africa's oldest park," appeared on line on MSNBC.com July 29, 2007, with a dateline denoting its imminent appearance in the August 6 print issue. The story romantically describes rangers with "billowing green ponchos" and "AK-47's," not the Washington Post's previous fiction of rusty machetes. KONG PART SIX(a): Mapping the Road to Tayna
Published 8 August 2007 by COA News, an on-line portal to independent news. Unedited version here, with extensive footnotes. (the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International gets a lot of mileage out of Dian Fossey. DFGF-I has plans to expand and market the Dian Fossey name worldwide, an entire industry in the making, all mapped out in terms of market share and "protected" primates. For all the money pumped into the Tayna project, for all of the glossy brochures produced by the DFGF-I, the luxury conferences, the cocktail parties, the National Press Club luncheons, the celebrity endorsements, for all the new entities, organizations and alliances continually being created to ostensibly address the crucial issues - the results for the Congolese people are underwhelming. - see also: http://www.coanews.org/tiki-read_article.php?articleId=2028)

  • Congolese Conservation Expert Under Attack for Speaking Out About Corruption involving Western Conservation and Humanitarian Organizations in Central Africa: URGENT ACTION NEEDED
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC): On Monday, 27 August 2007, Congolese national Mr. Vital Katembo Mushegezi, a state Conservator and Senior Game Warden, sent out an urgent SOS appeal from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mr. Katembo has come under attack from powerful forces seeking to maintain the long-standing silence about corruption, extortion, and criminality involving international non-government organizations (NGOs) working in the conservation, development and humanitarian sector in Central Africa. While previously concerned for his livelihood and security, Mr. Katembo has now been barred from his offices at the Congolese Institute for the Conservation of Nature (ICCN) and he is deeply concerned for his life and his family's security. • S.O.S. IN EASTERN CONGO
    :
Magic Sticks, Corruption and Gorilla Warfare
Published September 12, 2007 by OPED NEWS and September 17, 2007, by ZNET. By keith harmon snow and Georgianne Nienaber. (two urgent messages arrived from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in late August 2007 - each labeled S.O.S. On August 27, 2007 Congolese national Vital Katembo Mushegezi, a state Conservator and Senior Game Warden in the Virungas National Park, sent out an urgent S.O.S. appeal from the DRC. The second S.O.S. came from a Congolese animal rights organization that has been investigating the gorilla trade and conservation corruption. In a stunning revelation, investigators have discovered an illicit trade in "sticks that the big apes, such as those the gorillas and the chimpanzees use." The Magic gorilla sticks...meanwhile, millions suffer and die in Central Africa. • VIRUNGAS OF EASTERN CONGO
    :
POPULATION AND WORLD HERITAGE IN PERIL

Published in the Pheonix Sun News September 30, 2007, by Georgianne Nienaber and keith harmon snow. (Bloodletting in Congo began in 1876 with Henry Morton Stanley's mission as a mercenary agent of exploitation, employed to "open up the Congo" for Belgian's King Leopold. The Leopold/Stanley enterprise resulted in horrible suffering and massacres, setting the stage for what is happening in Central Africa today. Then, as now, the King's men pursued their private profiteering and white supremacist agenda behind a massive propaganda campaign. Leopold operated behind a "humanitarian" front for the great blood rubber and ivory plunder he initiated. Very little has changed. From 1996 to the present, by some accounts, 10 million have died in Congo, with 1,000 people dying daily in the east alone. - see also: http://www.thesun-news.com/virungas.htm)
